Taking the SAT After Community College

The SAT is kind of like some sort of immortal beingfeared, admired, and timeless. Yup, that’s rightyour special time with the SAT isn’t just limited to high schoolyou’re never too old to take it! YOU CAN NEVER ESCAPE. Taking the SAT before transferring to a four-year university isn’t a subject that’s touched upon often. While the vast majority of SAT-takers are high school juniors and seniors, there is also a considerable percentage taking the SAT from a community college. College admissions for transfers is very similar to regular college admissionsand much of the same requirements apply. While some colleges will grant exceptions, most will require the SAT even from transfer students. For those considering transfer, this requirement can be daunting, especially since it’s normally associated solely with high school upperclassmen. You’ll have to confirm whether or not your college requires test scores from transfersespecially if you’ve already earned your Associate’s degree. There are many who do and many who don’t, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Â  Before applying to a school, find out what the institution is looking for in transfer applicants. You can get a good idea by looking at a schools Common Data Set. The Common Data Set is a document that four-year schools across the country complete that contains lots of information on such topics as admission criteria, freshman academic profile, campus safety and transfer admissions. You can often find a colleges Common Data Set by Googling that term and the name of the institution. It shouldn’t be a scary thing! Because you don’t have a high school to guide you through the process, it might be a little bit less straightforward, but it’s still very much doable. Getting started Registration is a very simple process. Just go to the College Board websiteand you can register from the home page.Test dates, prices, and practice questions are all easily accessible from thereso everything’s really straightforward! As for testing sites, there are thousands across the country. You might have to go to a local high school to take the testmaybe even the high school where you graduated. Alternatively, you can go to your local high school and pick up an SAT booklet and physical registration form. (All of this applies to the ACT, too, if you’d prefer that over the SAT. Register here.) Preparation Prepare for the SAT just as you would if you were in high school. You can sign up for local prep classes, research practice tests, buy some guide books etc. Definitely do NOT be afraid to reach out to your college for resources. It’s important to remember thatwhile SAT scores often factor into your admission, they aren’t nearly as important as they were in high school. According to one NACAC survey, the most important factor when considering transfer applicants is your grade point average. For those transferring after one-two semesters, SAT will be a little more important, but the further away you are from high school, the less essential it becomes. Your academic performance in the classroom will attest far more to your college readiness than your SAT score. Takeaway Don’t be discouraged about your less traditional path. According to one survey by the National Association for College Admission Counseling, a third of students end up transferring to other colleges or universities. Transfer is becoming more and more common, so you are far from alone. The concept of a male dominated patriarchal society is not a recent composition. As far back as the middle ages, literature is strongly sentimental towards a male dominant society in which the woman plays the part of a peacekeeper or a beautiful object of desire, a respectful and obedient observer that is entirely confined – her role prescribed. Popular texts such as Macbeth†, â€Å"Beowulf†, â€Å"Sir Gawain and the Green Knight† and â€Å"The Book of Margery Kempe† show support for this prescribed anti-feminism. Women who obey and strictly follow the roles of wives, mothers, and â€Å"peace weavers† generally appear as confined. While such a word may conjure images of forceful restriction; the confined woman of Middle Ages literature appears happy, gracious and thankful to live in such a role. â€Å"Beowulf† and â€Å"Sir Gawain and the Green Knight† offer readers two distinctive stereotypes of women, those who are or are not c onfined to their role in society. Antigone Character Sketch Essay Antigone, the character for which the play was named, is a very complex character. She seems to change directions all throughout the play and there is never one point in which you know exactly what she will do because she is just that unpredictable. This unpredictability also makes her seem very hypocritical because she will say something and then turn on a dime and say the complete opposite. Antigones character is very intriguing strictly due to the fact that she keeps you guessing. The following will show the many variations that her character shows throughout the play. There are several points in the play that Antigone seems very heroic, especially when she is speaking to Creon about her reasoning for attempting to bury her brother. She reflects every aspect of a hero by trying to sneak out not once, but twice and then even more by standing up to Creon. All of these heroics, however, in a very short time make her look very selfish. After Creon tells her the story about her brothers bodies, she takes the stance that she must bury her brother for herself. That all but erases the thought of her, as a hero because all of her actions that were thought to have been done for Polynices were only done to satisfy her own needs. The one characteristic of Antigone that seems to be constant throughout the play is her stubbornness. From the beginning of the play when she sneaks out to bury her brother after Creon had specifically told her not to, all the way to the end when she is given the opportunity to marry Haemon and go on living but forces her own death. She always seemed to fight everything for as long as possible, never taking the easy way out if it compromised her beliefs. In the end it was her stubbornness that ultimately killed her. Antigone also attempts to come across as the so-called innocent victim. When she is first found out and Creon confronts her, she pushes the fact that she had to do it for Polynices. Even when that reason went to hell and she changed her story to say that she had to bury him for herself, she still said she was bound to do it, which represents Antigone trying to make herself look innocent by saying she had to do it. I do not think there is a right or wrong answer as to whether she was an innocent victim or not, but the question is posed all throughout the play. Of all Antigones characteristics, it seems as though her stubbornness is the most prevalent of all. The fact that she is stubborn is only the beginning of the description of her character. Antigone is by far the most complex of all the characters in the play and I think it is safe to say that none even come close to her. I believe that the variations in her character also make her the most interesting  of all the characters because with the others you know what to expect. Antigone is an amazing play and the title character is as amazing as she is complex.

These CNF agents charge around 2% of the total product rice. E. g. The Mother Dairy plant in NCR is responsible for the supply in Western Uttar Pradesh region where they have around 6 CNF agents. Modern Trade Ice Cream in India Modern trade consists of hypermarkets and supermarkets that retail FMCG. But ice cream in India is never considered as an item under the basket of bulk purchases. This is the reason that ice cream companies choose locations in the residential localities where people decides to buy the ice cream after seeing a counter or a mobile unit/kart. Retailing of the ice cream through mobile units is the best channel when it comes to Mother Dairy. In my personal chat with one of the Area Sales Manager of Mother Dairy ice cream (who looks after the sales in Cannaught Place and India Gate region in Delhi) I was told a very interesting fact that CP and India Gate are highest selling point for ice creams in India. Now on my further drill I found that Mother Dairy has only one retail store at India gate and has around 150 mobile units and this is the reason that they are the leader in selling ice cream at these two points where they take 85-90% of the total sales as they are saving rents and outlets maintenance cost which their competitors can’t avoid. Electric Vehicles: Current Uses: Currently electric vehicles are slowing becoming popular with some already on show room floors. Furthermore, there are many enthusiasts and groups that have really been pushing their use. Tough these cars do not share the same performance qualities of some gas-powered cars; the current technology has been rapidly catching up. Hybrid vehicles have offered in some ways the best of both worlds. The cars are environmentally friendly yet offer the power and distance capabilities of other cars on the market. Furthermore, there have been many ways of supplying electricity to the cars including home-rechargeable batteries and hydrogen power. Electric vehicles are a definite possibility for the future because they have the lowest emissions while driving. Groups like E-Vermont are independent interest groups that have gotten together to try to use this technology and increase other’s understanding of it. These interest groups are becoming very popular and many of them have found ways to transform normal automobiles into electric vehicles. Furthermore, groups like this get together and have a race to showcase the alternate fuel technologies that exist in the world today. The most well-known of these races is the Tour-De-Sol. This competition and festival highlights every form of transportation that promises less gas or oil use. This event helps to show the progress that has been made in electric vehicle technology. Many of the people who are part of this use electric vehicles in one form or the other. Some of them use a hybrid form while others stay strictly to a battery-charged electric vehicle. Most people do not know but electric vehicles are out there for people to use. They have not yet replaced the internal-combustion engine as the vehicle of choice for most but electric power does have its place in the world. Electric Vehicles are focused into two basic categories: niche markets and environmentally conscious households. These are both small parts of the economy but it is still important to note that they have been successful in some areas. There is a good chance that growth can occur from these two arenas, but only time will tell. The niche market includes vehicles such as golf carts, city municipal vehicles and warehouse vehicles. A niche market is formed when the dominating technology, though possibly superior, cannot meet special requirement. In these cases it is the pollution caused by gas-powered vehicles that is such as problem.

Universal Children's Day Saturday, Nov. 20, is Universal Children’s Day, as declared by the United Nations, and a new survey of children illuminates the wants and needs of kids living in poverty. Children's Day is celebrated on various days in many places around the world, to honor children globally. It was established in 1954 to protect children working long hours in dangerous circumstances and allow all children access to an education. The UN General Assembly recommended that all countries should establish a Universal Children's Day on an â€Å"appropriate† day.Major global variants include a Universal Children's Day on November 20, by United Nations recommendation. Children's Day is often celebrated on other days as well. International Day for Protection of Children, observed in many countries as Children's Day on June 1 since 1950, is said to have been established by the Women's International Democratic Federation on its November 1949 congress in Paris. The Small Vo ices, Big Dreams survey questioned children ages 10 to 12 in 30 countries throughout Africa, Asia and the Americas.Conducted by ChildFund Alliance, which is comprised of global child development organizations, the survey found that one in three children goes to bed hungry at least once a week; more than 25% spend half of every day working, including household chores and other work but not counting school or homework. Regardless of where they live, the children spoke of bootstrapping themselves up through education. In the fortunate yet unlikely event they end up as president of their country, 57% said they would make sure to offer all children an education, improve existing schools and build more. If I were the president of India,† responds one Indian child, â€Å"I would provide good education and study materials such as pen, copies, pencils, uniforms, etc. to children. † (Of U. S. kids, 31% said education would be their top presidential priority. Perhaps, say those wh o’ve analyzed the study, the lower number doesn’t indicate a lack of interest in education but acknowledgement that U. S. children can attend school for free. ) What do you need most? the children were asked; one in three answered food, with 45% saying they’d spend a spare dollar on food or water. One motherless child from Cape Verde said, â€Å"I need food. My father is a fisherman, but he can’t get enough money to buy food. † â€Å"This survey serves to amplify [children's] voices so that we can direct our work in the most appropriate way,† said Anne Lynam Goddard. In countries such as Ecuador and Zambia, for example, ChildFund is trying to figure out how to enroll more children in school and keep them there longer.Interestingly, when polled about fears, snakes took first place, followed by death and disease, then falling victim to war or violence. â€Å"I am mostly afraid of death,† responded a Sierra Leone child. â€Å"I don†™t want to dream of dead people.
